Polyester Ropes are a very common rope often seen in survival or commercial uses. They are strong, flexible and can withstand large shock loads.
Polyester rope is considered to be a strong rope. The larger diameter polyester ropes are quite strong. The larger the diameter, the stronger the rope. They are quite flexible and the have good stretch depending on the weave of the rope. They can withstand a lot of shock load but they are just considered to be good in their abrasion resistance. Make sure you don’t leave them out in the sun because they can degrade over time. They are considered to be an expensive rope when compared to others.
They are good to use in survival situations because they are light and they can be made quite compact. They are seen in rescue lines all the time in their larger diameters. They are commonly found in commercial situations but they are not as often seen in rappelling.
